Cute and charming dog-friendly cafe with THE BEST coffee, food and vibe! It’s a tiny place with lots of interesting memorabilia and decor to enjoy, and the owners are so friendly and kind, they made us feel right at home. We ordered a hot caffe mocha and it was so good we ordered two more AND came back the next day! We also had the taco rice bowl (super tasty, fresh and very generous portion) and a side of curly fries (crispy, yummy seasoning and again very generous!). On the second day we had the Thai style fried rice and berry French toast (both also insanely good). The menu also has lots of different options: pizza, pasta, salads, sandwiches, cocktails, juices, smoothies and desserts. Even better, the cute doggies brought us so much joy since we are missing our fur babies back home. We’ll definitely be back!

Happy we arrived early for dinner cos it’s a small place and soon it was full and turning people away. The gentleman serving was friendly, food and beer were nice, and there’s wifi.

Had dinner here our last night in Shimoda. It’s a nicely designed space and we loved being greeted by the mascot dog. We had the smoked salmon cream cheese panini, quattro formaggi pizza, and caesar salad. All the food was delicious and we were stuffed! The owner was very friendly and the attention to detail with the food and the space were both apparent. If I’m ever back in beautiful Shimoda, it would be great to eat here again!

We loved the eclectic ambience inside, and the man who worked inside was very kind and polite. The food was incredible! We got the mango yogurt smoothie and the raspberry banana smoothie. Both were served with beautiful orchids flowers. Then we had incredible French toast! I had cafe latte (pictured), and my partner had the berry French toast. Both were very good. My only suggestion would be to get the small, as the large is a lot. We would love to go back!

The food was absolutely amazing here. Not your regular cafe with the generic dishes. Highly recommending the ribs or the ginger chicken. Really good drinks menu as well. But most importantly this is a dog friendly cafe/restaurant/bar!

We went there on a rainy day and it was a bit crowded. They recently renovated the place and it was really nice. The food was really good. My wife ordered the chicken ginger rice and it was worth the trip to Cubstar. A bit slow on getting our drinks as we received our meals first. At the end we left satisfied willing to return. Congrats.

The venue seems ver new & very cozy vibe. The food was delicious, from the chicken rice to the drinks & French toast. The quantity were HUGE compare to what you would get in Tokyo for the same price. Definitely recommend?

My partner and I went to cubstar in shimoda. Upon arrival we were greeted by the resident dog which set up the venue for a great atmosphere. The staff were extremely friendly and the food was amazing! I had the beef over rice and my partner had the chicken ginger over rice, we both agree this meal was one of the best we have had in Japan! Definately recommend anyone heading to shimoda to check it out.
